great people management
Research tells us that managers are the single biggest driver of team performance and engagement, accounting for 70% of employee engagement. And yet some studies find that only 1 in 4 employees say their manager is effective. Almost half of line managers receive no training for this critical role.
For 30 years I have led people, projects and HR teams and have experienced firsthand the difference great line management makes in team outcomes and well-being. But this doesn't happen by chance.
This programme is bourne out of my experience, and is aimed at those who want to be intentional about creating great line management within their own organisations.
It's research based and yet practical. It's focused in developing confidence, skills and knowledge. It's transformative.

programme overview

-
We start with the business case: why line management is so important, and why it's so often done ineffectively.
-
We build an awareness of what the role of line manager is, and what it isn't.
-
We lay a foundation of key management model such as motivation and situational leadership.
-
We focus on developing the core skills of active listening and asking great questions.
-
We grow in appreciation that each team member is different, with individual strengths and potential.
-
We address some of the scenarios many line managers dread - giving feedback, performance reviews, conflict and more
-
We introduce the all important skill of coaching as a line manager.
While this outlines the core, each programme is different as we start by really listening to each delegate to understand your context, particular questions and challenges. I believe in co-creating the priorities and emphasis during the programme, and will contract with each cohort as we go along to ensure the best outcomes for each delegate.
We use varied approaches, mixing up input, scenarios, role-plays, video clips, case studies and breakout discussions.
Only when training is individualised does it really take root, and so I meet with each delegate prior to the programme to understand your individual goals, and to enable me to provide customised resource recommendations throughout.
