People Skills for Line Managers

You've done well.  You been promoted.  You manage other people. Now what?

We know that 70% of employee engagement can be directly attributed to the quality of line management, and yet many managers are never given either direction or development in how to manage people well.

That's why I love to run this practical skill-based programme, underpinned by the latest research, and to see managers growing in confidence as they use their strengths in managing others. This can be one of the most rewarding aspects of organisational life, or one of the most stressful and demotivating if not done with support and skill.

  • I often run this programme in-house, providing a customised approach.

  • I regularly run this programme as an open course, providing rich insights from different sectors and perspectives.

  • I sometimes run this course for in-house HR professionals who in turn facilitate the programme with their own line managers.

  • Course delivery can in in person or virtual, in one focused development day or spread over several two hour sessions.

  • I embed CliftonStrengths and individual coaching pre and post course, for maximum individual transformation.

HR Business Partnering

I believe that as HR professionals we have the mandate to be a key voice at the table in shaping and guiding our organsations.

I also believe that we often don't make that a reality, for a number of reasons.

I designed this programme drawing on my 30 years of HR experience, to meet HR professionals where they, and to provide motivation and skills and insights to really become a key contributor to their own organsiations. Drawing on both research and very practical down-to-earth insights, we explore what the HRBP role can be, the barriers that can derail us, and how we can use tools, research, our strengths and our wider network to succeed.

Introduction to Coaching

In a world where the development of human potential is the most valued currency, coaching provides a key to unlocking it.

We all know that it's often easier to just 'tell'.  Tell our team what to do, what the solution is, where to look, what the priorities are....

But we also know that often doesn't lead to their growth or instill confidence that we believe in their potential.

Coaching  is when we pause, are curious, and use great questions and listening skills to enable others to explore their own potential in our presence.  We support and challenge.  We listen and probe. We send the message 'you are more capable that you know - let's explore that capability together'.

  • I run this programme either in-house, or as an open scheduled programme.

  • Course delivery can in in person or virtual, in one focused development day or spread over several two hour sessions.

  • Based on sound research and models, this is a very practical course, designed to enable all participants to find their own coaching style, and to identify what they will need to really embed these skills in their day to day professional lives.
